Karen Canfell is the inaugural Director of the Daffodil Centre and Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Leadership Fellow and holds a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Oxford. She is an epidemiologist, modeller and translationally focused population health researcher. Her research programme focuses on providing policy makers with an evidence base for decision making across the cancer control continuum. Karen’s work has focused on providing the evidence base to support strategic planning for cervical cancer elimination. She is co-lead of the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Modelling Consortium (CCEMC) and also led the modelling done to support development of new 2021 WHO Guidelines for cervical cancer screening.
