What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
What inspires me to work in the HIV field is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities affected by HIV. Witnessing the resilience, strength and courage of those living with HIV, as well as the dedication of healthcare professionals, activists and organizations in the response to HIV, fuels my passion for this work. I am inspired by the progress made in HIV prevention, treatment and care, but recognize the ongoing challenges and disparities that persist.
By contributing to the HIV response, I am driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to comprehensive care, support and resources to live healthy and fulfilling lives, free from stigma and discrimination. I am committed to advocating for equitable access to HIV services, promoting education and awareness, and fostering collaboration and solidarity within the global HIV and AIDS community.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
As an IAS change maker, my goals are centred around driving positive change and making meaningful contributions to the HIV response. I aim to advocate for equitable access to HIV prevention, treatment and care services, particularly for marginalized and underserved populations. I also seek to raise awareness about HIV and combat stigma and discrimination associated with the virus, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for those affected.
Additionally, I strive to foster collaboration and partnerships within the HIV community to enhance the effectiveness of interventions and programmes. I support research efforts aimed at advancing scientific knowledge and innovation in HIV prevention, treatment and cure. Empowering and amplifying the voices of people living with HIV is also crucial, ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
I promote policies and strategies that address the social determinants of health and contribute to ending the HIV pandemic. Finally, I engage in capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the skills and expertise of individuals and organizations working in the HIV field. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to a world where HIV is no longer a global health threat, and where all individuals can live healthy, dignified lives.
