What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

I really wanted to make a difference for a community that is often stigmatized and discriminated against, especially after interacting with all my clients or even friends living with HIV. I know that the work that I do nationally for Singapore will have significant positive impacts for this community, and this is the least I can do to alleviate any concerns or struggles they may face.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

I would like to share my experiences as a healthcare worker in Singapore not only to educate the public about our successes, but also to remind everyone about our shortcomings. Having such a platform to share these experiences will allow other change makers from other countries to learn from what we've done well as a nation and how to better bridge our shortcomings.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
