What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

I have over 18 years of experience in the clinical management of people living with HIV, which has given me insight into the challenges associated with care and management of HIV. My academic background gives me the opportunity to operate a dual role in drug formulation and design, as well as clinical practice. I therefore operate from bench to bedside in my research practice.

I have a passion for HIV prevention research and have specialized in microbicide development. I have also been involved in vaccine preclinical studies and clinical trials. I have a keen interest in contributing my research efforts towards HIV prevention and management.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

I plan to contribute my research efforts toward ending the HIV pandemic in my capacity to develop an HIV prevention microbicide. Also, as an IAS change maker, my goals are to collaborate with researchers across the world and champion the cause of research in the HIV response.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
